Contact Quickfind Lookup

I would like to use the external_id column (Employee ID) to find a contact at incident creation. I did this somehow on a test server (over a year ago) and I cannot remember how I did it. Any ideas?

Series of Search Strings...
There are a series of search strings that I believe you can specify in a Customstrings.xml... There should be a reference to this in the manual.
