Hi,

Does anyone have information about whether DCM / EDM / IDM file transfer blocking works with bluetooth, infra, firewire, etc?

Thanks!

Answer

We currently do inspect data as it is copied to Firewire drives.

Currently we do not analyze content in transmissions via Infra Red or Bluetooth. Most customers (we have spoken to) do not see this type of connectivity required for typical business interactions (unlike USB). So what we have recommended is to disable these devices on the endpoints as there is not a typical use case that is required for business interactions. This is can be done with use of our SEP product or can also be done via a change to the endpoints which can be delivered via the Altiris agent which is part of DLP V9.

Thanks, Ronak

Thanks, Ronak, I've asked many and got an exact answer only from you.

Do you see a way to enable legit business traffic, like synchronizing mobile calendar, contacts, etc., but also preventing data loss (like sending a confidential file)?
I think it's quite common to sync these things via bluetooth nowadays.
