  • 1.  Convert Unmanaged client to managed one

    Hi All,

I’m testing the a Dell computer with 64-bit Win7 OS and start to do an image for it. The Symantec installed on this PC is 12.1.4_Win64-bit-Client. I’ve been struggling to figure out a way to have this client PC to communicate with Symantec server.  For 12.1.3_Win32-bit_client version, we use Symantec replacer to do the sylink and got success. However, it doesn't work with 12.1.4 version. Is there anyone who can help me out? Since i don't have the privledge to do anything on server side, is there any way i can sylink it on client's side to convert it to a managed client?

All you need to do is replace the sylink.xml file on the unmanaged machine to connect it to the SEPM.

    Hi,

I am worried on this part, as you mentioned you don't have the privileged to do anything on server side.

Do you have latest Sylink.xml file? Have you taken backup of Sylink.xml prior to setup new image on OS?

Without Sylink.xml file you can't restore the communication with the SEPM server.

If valid Sylink.xml is there the just simply follow the steps given in the following article to replace it successfully.
