Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition

On a customer's site we have a number of PCs running Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition 12.0, currently they are all installed as unmanaged clients. We want to migrate them to managed clients but cannot reboot the PCs. Does the migration process unmanaged to managed require a reboot?

You may not require any Reboot. Incase, you are merely replacing the Sylink.xml with the help of SylinkReplacer 12.1 Utility. You could get this Utility from Symantec Technical Support.

In case, you are using Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager to Either send a new package OR using a Auto-Upgrade Feature then you could control the Restart by creating a Custom Package.

Here, before you add the Install Packages, you would have to create seperate custom packages which would not ask you machines to restart.

Answer to your question is " No reboot is required"

With the help of Sylink replacer tool you can remotely convert unmanaged clients to manged clients.

If you have limited number of clients then you can replace sylink.xml file manually also.
