converting/importing a WSI for 32-bit to 64-bit
Updated: 26 May 2010 | 5 comments
I am using Wise Installation Studio 7.0. I have had a 32-bit project for years. Is there a way to take this WSI and convert it to 64-bit. When I change the Template Summary under the Summary table from "Intel:1033" to "x64:1033" and save the WSI, it just changes it back to Intel :) Any help would be appreciated

You have to check the box
You have to check the box 64-bit component on the Components page in the Setup Editor for each component that is 64-bit. If you have a mixed installation with both 32 and 64-bit components it is preferred to create separate Features for 32 and 64-bit components. The help file has this explained very good.
Thanks for the comment.
Thanks for the comment. I did try the suggestion and it did not seem to work. So the next question I have is can you take a 32-bit based WSI and install 64-bit components? Or does the WSI have to be a 64-bit bases project, with 32-bit components? Is there any docs that support any of this?
If the above is true, then is there a way to take a 32-bit bases WSI and covert it to 64-bit?
How about taking a newly created 64-bit based WSI and importing the older 32-bit based WSI?
thanks again for the all the help thus far
Are you trying to create a
Are you trying to create a mixed 32/64 bit project?

That is correct.
That is correct.
I believe you have a couple
I believe you have a couple of options to try.
The first is to start with a 64 bit project and then add the 32 bit components once the 64 bit components have been added.
The second is to create just the 64 bit part of the installation as a new project, but then include the 32 bit project as a nested custom action.
