Corrupted BE2012 server

Created: 29 Jul 2013 | 3 comments

I would like to rebuild my BE2012 server from scratch.  Are there any pitfalls.  I will do a complete backup and do screen shots of my jobs.  Someone went in and change the Default Service Acct to a username and pw whichc changes periodically.  When it changed everything went to hell in a hand basket.  I have spent hours with Symantec, on my own and with others attempting to fix the problems.  I am just going to start over.  It will really be quicker I think.

Hello,

Please refer to the following link for helpful tips on reinstalling Backup Exec. Note that though it is referring to Backup Exec 2010 and lower it is still relevent exept for where the license information is located . In Backup Exec 2012 it is located in  C-program file -common file -Symantec Shared or if it is wi2008 then C-Program data- Application data-Symantec Shared  http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH62744

In the BE directory the data folder has your jobs and catalogs folder will have your restore selection

Take the screenshot of all your jobs

As your service account is messed up instead of reinstalling the software  reload from the blank databases which are included in the BE direcotry

Later you can create new jobs and a new default account (one whose password never expires)

You can follow this to load the databases from base (you can call it factory reset of backup exec)

It will save your time
