Could anyone share how to block the USB broadband prepaid kit from running on all windows xp workstation?SEP client are installed. All features are installed. We currently getting trouble on it.Most of the users are manually disconnecting to the network and install the usb broadband kit for them to connect to internet directly with out any limitations. USB broadband kit sees as modem on the xp os.I already block the modem device on device control but no to avail. I want also to know what spcific application is running on USB broadband kit?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Gilbert, I think you

Hi Gilbert,

I think you should take a look at this post https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/how.... It is all about blocking specific applications from running on a clients computer. It also talks about how to generate an md5* from the list of applications installed on the target computer.

*An md5 is simply a fingerprint of a program. Think of it as a way to identify a specific running program no matter what it is named. This keeps people from being able to rename firefox.exe to firefoxxx.exe and running it.

Hope this helps,
Grant

Please don't forget to mark your thread solved with whatever answer helped you : )
