Dear ALL,

I have about 20 tapes that i have used to backup files using BackUPexec 10d on server.
Now the old server is gone and i need to reuse these tapes to backup files using a different version of Backup Exec on a different server.

the problem is when ever i put one of these used tape, the tape device says that the tape is write protected. I have made sure that the tape is not read only, (the read only knob on the tape is turned off).

Please help !!!!

did you migrate the install, or just install on the new machine?

If you just installed, did you select FULL or PARTIAL for the Global Media Management setting?

If you selected FULL,  BackupExec treats all "foreign" tapes - those not created by this install - as permanently protected

Try re-labeling the tapes before re-using them
