CPS and 2012
Created: 16 Oct 2012 | 7 comments
Dear all,
I have not yet upgraded to BE 2012 for fear of loosing CPS. We use it for our Exchange server with the the "Continuously back up transaction logs with Backup Exec Continuous Protection Server" option, and we also use it as a quick way to snapshot our file server throughout the week. If we go to 2012 will I loose this ability, and if so, is there a replacement for them?
Many thanks,
Ben

Thanks, I knew that was the case. What I am trying to ascertain is if I upgrade to 2012, what that will do to my current CPS usage. Will CPS simply stop working? How does the Exchange CPS transaction log backup job work going forward?

After a upgrade to Backup Exec 2012 existing CPS (Continuous Protection Server) agent jobs are converted to file and folder jobs to protect the CPS data folders

Thanks, and what about my Exchange job? Will I still be able to continuosly protect using 2012?
Has nobody got any experience of this?
No, the continuous protection would not work post upgrade to BE 2012.. Consider running a pre-migration report using the BE support tool...it would give detailed info about what changes would affect the BE environment should you upgrade.
