What is the difference between Continuous Protection Server (CPS) and Granular Recovery Technology (GRT)?  When would I use one over the other or do they work in conjunction with each other?

CPS and GRT are completely different things.
CPS = Continuous Protection Server. This means that rather than performing backups at regular intervals, you backup changes as they happen, i.e. the continuous bit!
GRT = Granular Restore Technology. This means that for resources that are typically made up of a single large entity (such as Exchange databases, Active Directory databases, Sharepoint stores etc), you can back them up as a whole (which is nice and quick), then if you need to restore, you can do so at a granular level, i.e. single items from within the data.

Well said Hywel.
