Create LVM image not RAW?
Updated: 21 May 2010 | 2 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.
Hello,
I need to create an image from a machine running Fedora Core 8 default config, meaning using LVM. However DS will only create in raw format.
The environment:
DS 6.8 SP2
Automation OS: Linux x86 Version=2.6.18.8 Build=6.8.8397
From automation OS command line on target machine: ./rdeployt –mu -f/mnt/ds/foo
As I understand in articles I’ve read DS should not default to raw if running rdeploy from a Linux automation OS.
Can someone please assist?
Thank
-John

RE: Create LVM image not RAW?
Rdeploy that comes in DS 6.9 SP1 addresses this issue. However, I am not sure if Fedora core 8 is supported. Suse and RedHat work.

OK, issue resolved,
Once I booted to the Linjux automation network disk I used the "FIRM" tool with the option “drives” in the DS rdeploy/linux/ directory so I could see how rdepoy was viewing the partitions. With that info I added the -d switch after the -mu switch noting only the partitions I wanted imaged excluding the raw portion of the disk, which is 3/4 of the entire disk. Worked like a charm!
Ending the week on a good note! :o)
