Creating Department wants Given and Surname

I am trying to manually add some departments into Asset, and there are three fields that are mandatory:

Given Name

Surname

Employee ID

If I do not enter into these fields I get an error stating:

Unable to save changes. The value in field 'Given Name' in data class 'Global User General Details' is invalid. This field must contain a value.

Why would these field be required if they are for departments (I can see them needed for users). If they are required what would I enter?

Thanks

Hrm...

I would go and see if any of the user data classes were accidentally assigned to the department resource type.

For this, go to NS > Configuration > Resource Settings > Resource Types > Organizational Types > Department.

If there is a user data class, you will probably want to remove it.
