  • 1.  Creating exceptions for outbound email (DLP 12.5)

Is there a way to create an exception that will exempt a list of email addresses (from specific senders) for any and all polices? To explain it another way, If I have a list of email addresses DLP would not scan those emails for which ever email addresses are specified in the list. It would be kind of like a list of email addresses that are whitelisted. Does that make sense?

    Hi,

If you want to exempt few email addresses from DLP scan, follow the below steps

1)If you are on DLP 12.5.1 , you have to  create a Sender Pattern under "Manage>Policies>Sender/Reciepient paterns".

2)Now edit the policy in which you want to apply this exception. Create a Exception by clicking on the Add exception tab.Select Sender /User Matches pattern from the conditions. You will be able to select the Sender pattern you create earlier . Save the policy

3)Incase if you are on a DLP version less than 12.5 skip step 1 and directly go to step 2, instead of selecting the sender pattern, you can enter the list of Email addresses there.for exempting them.

    Hello,

If you have a quite long list, you can create an DGM with your list of email address to whitelist and then add this as a Group exception in each policy. So you will be able to manage this list a part from DLP and then just update your DGM (manually or automatically as you can schedule DGM creation on regular basis).
