  • 1.  Creating A Install Package?

    Posted Mar 12, 2012 02:02 PM

I recently upgraded the SEPM 12.1 console to RU1. I have tested the latest version on a test group and everything is working fine, now I want to create an install package for each client group so the clients will be up to date. I know how to create an install package, but I have a question. In one group called servers I have some servers on 32 bit and some on a 64 bit platform. Can I just create two install packages, one for 32 bit and one 64 bit? Will SEPM apply the correct version or whichever one I add first, like the 32 bit, will it apply 32bit to all servers, even 64 bit?

Assign the 32 bit package to the group first, let the 32 bit machines update then assign the 64 bit package to the same group. The machine will not accept the wrong package, so no need to worry about asigning wrong package.

    HI,

If you have 64 bit and 32 bit machines in the same group you can assign both(32bit & 64 bit) packages to the particular group.

Just need to make sure the packages are of same version as it may cause issues.

    Hi Valley_girl1919,

You can use auto upgrade feature to upgrade existing SEP clients.

The AutoUpgrade process lets you automatically upgrade the Symantec Endpoint Protection client software for all the clients that are contained in a group

    http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH96789

No need to worry even though you assigned 64 bit pacakge to 32 bit clients group, SEP clients won't accept that package.SEP clients will accept only their respective package from SEPM.
