Packaging MSI's from scratch

There are a lot of requests on the Juice and in my mail with similar requests, but i alway's keep saying:
Please get some training form a instance in your surrounding.
Wise packaging is a very important job, and can not be learned just by getting tips form others.
There is some basic understanding that is needed.
I receive questions form people who get a lot of errors, but then they did not run the workbench.
Yes, that will cause a lot of errors.
And worse? When you package with not enough understanding, your users will get bad apps, and they will not be happy about that.

Creating msi's from scratch

Creating an msi without using setup capture can be easy at times depending on how complex the application you're packaging is. You have to have a really good understanding on Windows Installer (msi) technology to even be attempting an excercise like this.

Heres a link that will help you learn about msi technology in general John McFadyen's Blog
