  • 1.  Creating products for bundled software

Hi. I have just begun using Asset Management and am looking for some help with Software Licensing.  Some of our schools have purchased Adobe Creative Suite 6 which contains Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat X Pro etc.  How can I set up a software product for this so that individual installs of Acrobat X Pro do not show as being part of CS6?

There are existing Software Products for Adobe Master Collection CS3/CS4/CS5.  Perhaps with a new synchronization CS6 will be included -- I'm running one on my test server now.  You can see these by going to Manage > Software Catalog, then checking the box to 'Include pre-defined software products.'

Define Adobe CS6 as having the products you mentioned, while Adobe X Pro needs to be defined as not having the other products.

    Hi Mike

Thank you so much for your reply.  Can I ask you though, how does Asset Management know which Adobe X Pro installs are part of Adobe CS6, and which are not? Does it only include it if the other packages are on the pc also??

Actually, it won't.  You'll want to create each product separately for Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat X Pro, etc.  When you create your licenses, you'll use a virtual license.  Virtual licenses are used for logical groupings of licenses for aggregating purposes like these.  So if you have 250 CS6 licenses and 100 Adobe X Pro standalone licenses, you'll create a Photoshop license with 250, InDesign 250, Illustrator 250, and then a virtual license for Adobe X Pro, which you would combine in a virtual license of 350.

Ah.  I have not looked at Virtual licenses yet, so I will have a look at that.

    Many thanks for your advice.
