Creating a selection list on Unix machine shows nothing under [ROOT] entry

Server is BEWS 12.5, using the same agent as we have on many many other machines.  Client is RHEL 5.3 x86_64, iptables is empty and SELinux is disabled.  Our backup admin noticed that it started failing recently, I went in to look at the selection list, and when I clicked the plus sign next to the [ROOT] entry, nothing appeared (but the plus sign went away).

I have tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the agent, creating a different set of user credentials, etc.  The beoper entry is in /etc/groups.  At this point, I'm without a solution.

Couple of thoughts

Mike,

I have your setup, though my client is Ubuntu 9.10 rather than RHEL - Is your BE server on a Windows server box or some other OS?

Seems that your setup was working for awhile and then began failing - if you can see the [ROOT] section than the agent is actually running on the client side at least..

Did you let BE create the beoper user/group?  I had connectivity problems when I set up the group manually b4 setting up the agent - on reinstall I let the agent set it up and this fixed it.  Also, have you updated your BE server to SP3 with all available hotfixes?  I believe the same is true for the x64 clients, but there were 6 updates I had to apply for the RALUS agent on my Ubuntu box to get the selection list to come up properly on the server.  Head to the following link and select version '12.5' and 'Linux'

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/downloads.jsp?pid=15047

You have to d/l and patch the updates manually as the bulk updater doesn't work for RALUS agents.  You may also need to restart your BE server services once updates are complete to get it to pick up properly.

My BE 12.5 is up to date (as well as the RALUS agent from the aforementioned list of updates) and I have not had a problem since...

Server is up to date, and I

Server is up to date, and I have about 20 other machines with the same OS rev running just fine.  I tried deleting the beoper group and letting the BEWS agent installer re-create it, no joy.  Attaching screenshot...

Note the lack of expansion past [ROOT]

Having the same issue with Fedora 12 64 bit

I am having the same symptoms.  I have installed the agent sucessfully and can see the Linux workstation under the devices, log into the agent okay with no errors, but there is nothing under the [ROOT] nor does it return any errors.  I have tried the 2010 agent as well as 12.5.  Any other help would greatly be appreciated.
