  • 1.  Creating a Windows PE Symantec Ghost Boot CD for T540

I am creating a Symantec Ghost Boot CD using Windows PE.  My problem is getting the NIC drivers to function.  I have downloaded the drivers from Here.  I have tried to add the drivers through the Ghost Boot Wizard from Symantec but when I boot the computer up and try and connect it to a Ghost session I noticed the drivers are not installed (getting a 127.0.0.1 IP Address).  Has anyone else come accross this.  The only other thing I can think of being the issue is the T540 does not have any Vista NIC drivers and to my understanding Windows PE sits on a Vista kernal.

The above articles cover the process of validating and adding drivers to WinPE V2. However, newer hardware is not offering Vista drivers, so unless you are able to source these drivers from the chip manufacturer's website, you may wish to follow the process in the following article:

Check what NIC chipset your Lenovo machine uses - often it will be something like the Intel 82579. Searching this forum on 82579 will yield links to proven working drivers, as will searching on some other common chipset numbers.
