  • 1.  Creating/Restoring an image with an aligned disk

I created a base machine with aligned disks for a Dell Latitude E6510.  I created the image successfully.  Before restoring the image to another laptop, I removed all other volumes and created a single aligned partition.  I restored the image successfully, however, the disk is no longer aligned.  I created and restored the image via a PC-DOS USB drive because it's speed is much faster than a WinPE load.  Is there any way I can get the image restored with the same disk alignment.  They are the same make and model of laptop and size of hard drive.

    Thank you

By default ghost will aligns the disk as it was in source image.

While restoring the image to disk, you can override the alignment of a partition by using -align=1MB or -align=chs switch.

Govardhan is correct. You can use -align switch while restoring partition/disk image. Also please note, the 1MB alignment option supports Windows Vista and above.
