ctfmon.exe appearing in application metering reports

Hi everyone,

I have an issue where ctfmon.exe is showing up in some of our application metering reports... especially in "installed vs. used"

This monitor has not been setup anywhere, we are only monitoring a handful applications and not sure where this would be pulled from.

Versions: NS7 , CMS7 , SMS 7

Kindest Regards

mj

wildcards

Hi mj,

A bit after the fact...but we have seen errant .exe's recorded on some of our machines too.  Could the default "*.exe" policy have been turned on for some machines?  We've also seen some oddness like this when a metering policy has too many wildcards (*) specified, or if the file name or one of the other properties you configure in the metering policy has multiple periods (i.e. myapp.professional.exe).

Be sure you're on the latest App Metering Agent/Solution install, 6.1.55.  See DOC2031 for details.

Thanks,
Kyle

Doh

Sorry, somehow I missed the "NS7, CMS7" bit in your original post...but could be similar causes if another admin enabled *.exe monitoring, or turned on metering of some other Windows system component.

Thanks,

Installed vs. used

Does not rely on specific monitor policies. I believe it is driven by the summary data. So if you're using task server (which if you are on v7, you most certainly are), they ctfmon.exe will show up.
