Custom Inventory Help

This issue has been solved. See solution.

I am having some trouble with a Custom inventory job.  I need to collect some data from the registry (HKLM) and i can get the data into Altiris no problem.  The problem i am having is that i get more data than i need or want.  I have attached some screen shots to illustrate what i am referring to.

Registry.jpg:  This is the registry information that i need to gather.  The only info i want is highlighted in Yellow.

Alt_Config.txt:  This is the xml i am using to capture the data just renamed to a .txt file so i can post it here for you.

Altiris.jpg:  This is what i am getting when i run the job using the alt_config.xml.  I do not want the blank records shown in this pic.

Thanks for your help.

Jon

Hi Jon,
I think the data class was originally created with 3 columns, them you changed the xml file to only gave one...right? You'll need to remove the dataclass and recreate it (by posting a new inventory with the new definition file).

Thanks,

That did work.  My only question is now how do i remove the old inventory class and capture the new?  Thanks

3 steps...first take the custom inv command out of your inv collection routine. Then update the inv package. You'll have to wait a few days for it to propagate through the environment. I would also (for good measure) add an inventory run with "Clean before run" turned on to clear out the old cached data.  Then delete the bad data class from Configuration - Resource Settings - Data Classes - Default Folder, then run and post the new inventory from your development machine. After deleting the dataclass you might have to remove the table from sql server too. I think there is akb article that discusses this also. I'm on my phone though which doesn't do well with the kb...

Thanks,
Kyle

Glad to be of assistance!  Custom Inventory can get a bit hairy...this is one reason why it is great to have a development NS VM you can test stuff out on, then export/import the "final" data class from DEV to PROD.
