Hi,

I have a department that wants access to the patch reporting features. The Microsoft Compliance and Vulnerability by computer to be exact.

I don't have a problem with that but I just want them to run the reports on their own computers so I will have to clone and  then custom the report.

The Global reporting feature that needs to be changed (i think) is the _Collection paramarter. By default it is set to item picker and all computers comes up when you run the report.

What I want,  is to point it to one collection and only run it against the one collection.

Any ideas?

thanks,

Try one of these:

Option 1) If you elect to clone the report, you can chage the _Collection parameter from "Item Picker" to "Constant" and enter the Guid for the collection you'd like to report against.  To find a collection's guid, simply view the properties of the collection.

Option 2) Leave the report intact, but create 1 or more Notification Policies to run the report against your predefined parameter values and e-mail the results on a schedule.

Both of these should work - just pick the one that better suits your users' needs.

Hope this helps,

Brad

more reports

Hi,

Option 1 worked great ...thanks for that. Still trying to wrap myself around option 2.

What I would like to do is give them acces to the reporting tab and only allow them to see what is in there folder which will have patch reports and inventory reports.  I remember sometime ago you could set it up, so that only the one folder would show up in the reporting tab when a user logged in but I am having problems repeating this. I don't want everything to show just the one folder I create and add too.

Any help on this?

6.0 or 6.5 Console?

For 6.0 - Create a custom security role. Grant the "view reports tab" privelege to the role.  Go to the reports tab.  Right click on the folder containing your custom reports and select Properties.  On the Security Tab, add your custom role.  Grant the "Read" and "Run Reports" permissions.

If you're using the 6.5 console and want to change the console menu dropdowns, this is a little more involved.  Let me know if that's the case and I'll see if I can help you.
