Hi,

I may be missing something here , hopefully someone can put me right.

On the management console | Clients | selecting a machine/group and clicking SCAN , gives you 3 options:

Active Scan

Full Scan

Custom Scan

It says that Custom Scan , Selected local or network drives .... BUT it doesn't give you an option to select these from the management console ?

So how are you supposed to run a custom scan on a selected partition from the management console ???

Anyone know ?

Hi Brav,

Have you looked at the top 25 articles? It may have specific answers to this and other questions you may have.  Here's the URL:

Thanks for that , but those links don't really help much.

I know how to run the scans from the console but where it says custom scan | how is it a custom scan because you can't select what to scan ? or does it prompt the user to select where to scan , which isn't helpfull either ....

I'll log a call.

Thanks anyway!

Hi,

I've spoken with support, and they'd appreciate it if you could call in and create a support ticket.  They want to troubleshoot a few things.

I can confirm the same behaviour under a clean install of MR4.

Choose custom scan from the SEP Console and it is executed without giving you an opportunity to change any options at all.

Not really custom I guess :(

Yup, I guess it's an issue in all SEP versions... there isn't any diaglog/option to select custom locations to be scanned when one selects custom scan via console.

Thank you for contacting Symantec Technical Support.

The settings for the Custom Scan needs to be specified in the Anti-virus and Anti-spyware policy. When you edit the Anti-virus and Anti-spyware policy, you will see an option called "Administrator-defined Scans" and the there will be an EDIT  button next to "Administrator on-demand scan settings". If you click on that, you will be able to change the settings of a Custom Scan triggered from the Manager Console.
