  • 1.  Custom Security Role - Right Click

    I previously created a custom security role with all the required access for the Deskside support agents.  I now have been requested to add the option to delete computers.  I thought this would be a simple ask, go into the Account management settings for that role and select the Right Click option to delete.

    Unfortunately, this doesn't appear to be the case.  I can see the setting added in the Security Role Manager, there are read/write/delete permissions granted but the agents still can't see the option when connecting to the web console. I tried enabling other right click menu items and noting is updating. Thought it might have been an IE issue, so I cleared the cache and all settings but still no luck.

    Not sure what is going on here. Any ideas?

    Oh, security...sigh. Such a drag in the console.

    For me, I had to enable Right-click options under the Security Role Manager. Go to Settings>Security>Permissions.

    Choose the Role (Your Deskside Support Role) from the drop down and head over to Settings>Notification Server>Right-Click Menu. That is where these options should be. Then click the BLUE plus symbol at the top of the tree to add what you need. Once the new pop-up appears navigate to the above path to add what you need there.

    I hope I explained it well enough. It is a tricky place to navigate. Make sure to make a copy of your role before you modify it.

    My sample screenshot shows that I have only enabled Delete and Stop Task to the right-click options for that role.

    Hi there, thanks for the response.

    When I added the right click menu option for delete it did appear under Settings>Notification Server>Right-Click Menu (Screen shot attached).

    The problem is this change is not reflected for the accounts that are assigned to that role when accessing the console.

    Did you have the proper "Role" selected in the drop down. Right above the "View" drop down.

    Sometimes I forget to choose the Role and it often defaults to Symantec Administrators when you first go to the Security Role Manager page.

    Yes, I have selected the correct role.

    Something is definitely wrong with that right click delete for that role I created.  I just added the right click - schedule task and that one populated just fine.  There must be a dependency somewhere that I am missing.
