  • 1.  Custom Sysprep config file not processing

What am I doing wrong? I have created and deployed images on several managed computers in my organization but having trouble imaging unknown computers. I know that I need to add the new machines as predefined and I can get the computers to take an image. But after I boot to production, the computer will sit until I logon and click on the Sysprep dialog box. (See attached) I am using a custom sysprep file when deploying my image. But why isn't this getting processed until I log on to the machine and manually click this popup?

    Thanks,

    ~Michael

How are you building and capturing your images before you deploy them? Most use the method of:

    • Build Windows OS and install/configure as needed with Symantec Management Agent installed, as well.
    • Run Prepare for Image Capture Task (takes care of Sysprep elements for you, so no need to run it manually)
    • Run Create Image task

Let's see how you build out your images and see where the trouble is happening.

How do you build your OS before you capture it? My steps are:

-Install Windows/Run Windows Update for all latest patches

-Tweak anything you need to in the OS (registry settings, etc)

-Install Altiris agent with all plugins

-Run Prepare for Image Capture task

As an FYI...I never run Audit Mode in Syprep like the old days of manually running Sysprep. Where is your custom Sysprep file located...here:
