Customer assesment for NetBackup

I need to do customer assesments on current NBU customers and potensial new NBU customers.

My idea is to ask the customer permission to run some NBU commands or NBU utilities and from that derive a summary of his curent backup enviromment. Using this as guideline to introduce NBU or new NBU features.

Are there any such commands or tools available for Symantec partners to use.

Check "nbsu -c" out. It really good to capture all aspect of a Netbackup confiuration.

Assumption is the mother of all mess ups.

100% agree with Nicolai. What I recommend lots of people to do.

And first thing I would do if visiting a new customer with existing environment.

(even have it in my signature, I have found it that useful)

The Admin Console is an area you could get a better layout from the topology view. (As a view for 50,000 feet) but will not give you everything - mainly devices.

nbsu is a great learning tool also from inspecting the output.

Tip: Get overview/document your NBU environment. Run 'nbsu' and review the output.

Can see you are one of partner. Sync with your SE/Sales account manager. Symantec have recently come up with new tool for partners/se to analyze NBU environment.

NBU Analyzer and NBU assessment. However this tools are available for partners based on specialization (Check with SE for this)
