Customize Asset Fields

Thanks to others in this forum I am familiar with and have implemented custom worker and incident pages in the Help Desk Solution by using custom.config and customizing the template files. However, I am trying to change the data fields for manually entered assets, and it does not appear to work the same way. I want to be able to hide the Location and use a building dropdown & Room. I have created a building lookup table. Then I want to utilize a manufacturer dropdown and Model dropdown in the same manner. I have installed the Asset Management Solution to see if this will help but I am still confused as to how to do it. Does anyone have any suggestions?
