Dagent Password

I know Dagent vs. Aclient has been talked about in the past, but I would like to know if anyone knows where Altiris is going with the Dagent password protection.

I have about 8,500 clients being managed through Deployment Servers.  We are moving over to Vista.  I need to be able to password protect the Dagent properties on the client so that a user does not try to change the settings to not talk to their server.

At the moment, I am still using AClient on the vista image becuase it allows me password protection, however the GUI doesnt show up at all for AClient in Vista.  Our helpdesk still needs to be able to remote control in to the client, and using a password, be able to view and modify the settings for AClient/Dagent.

Is Altiris planning on adding password protection to the GUI settings on Dagent?
Will Altiris add a GUI for AClient on Vista?
When will AClient be phased out?

In DS 6.9 SP2 DAgent will

In DS 6.9 SP2 DAgent will have password protection on the properties just like the aclient.  In addition to that you will be able to hide the DAgent in the systray.  This is the closest thing to a feature in 6.9 SP2, everything else is a bug fix.

Good Question. When is the SP2 ETA?

When is SP2 slated for release?

AClient

What about the question about AClient?  I know it is being phased out, but when will Symantec ultimately cut support for AClient?

Right now the only plans to

Right now the only plans to stop supporting Aclient is when DS 6.9 w/ latest sp has stopped being supported as a whole.
