Database Backup

I performed a database backup and a zip file was created. when I try to open the zip file I get an error saying "The Compressed (zipped) Folder is invalid orcorrupted".
Does SEPM create a zip file in a format which Windows 2003 should be able to open? Also where is the backup activities logged?

You should not open that, its symantec endpoint format.
you should see the backup logs under the db folder \logs
