Hi All,

There is a oracle backups running for database in our enivrnoment.Currently when backup is intiated from DBA(user directed) its appears in Activity monitor in total of 3 Job ids.Now we have got a request from DB to Kick off 9 parallel process instead of 3.

I have checked the policy and limit jobs per policy is more than 10.I am not sure what exactly needs to be done..

Master:- SunOW 5.9 (NBU 6.56)

Client NBU 6.5.6

Policy Configured is with policy type Oracle with schedule Default-Application-Backup

Can someone please shred some more light on this?

Thanks in Advance

There are several prerequisites to run 9 jobs simultaneously.

  • Needs enough free streams in destination storage unit. Muximum concurrent jobs for disk storage units must be grater than or equal to 9. If you are to use Media Manager(tape) storage unit, you need 9 or more tape drives in same storage unit, or use Multiplexing(MPX) functionality to write more than one stream into one tape drive simutaneously.
  • Maximun jobs per client must be grater than or equal to 9.
  • Maximun jobs per policy must be grater than or equal to 9.
  • Configure your RMAN script or Oracle Template to run 9 backups simultaneously.

DBA(user directed) its appears in Activity monitor in total of 3 Job ids

it indicates, that the Rman script is configured to trigger only 3 jobs simultaneously, DBA needs to change the RMAN script to start the 9 streams.

Make sure you are enough resources avaliable to handle 9 steams at a time.
