    Kindly let me know that is it possible to install the Database in HA/failover mode in SMP 7.1

    It just sees it as any other SQL server.

    Thanks for the reply.
    I have not worked much on SQL server. Could you please send me the procedure to install the SQL in cluster and how to configure that SQL server in the SMP.

    You need to configure server hardware with shared storage first, then install Windows, then install a Windows Cluster, then install SQL Server to the cluster.

    Once this is done the SQL Server looks the same as any other to the SMP. Just enter the name as normal.

    Altiris doesn't have a HA feature in itself, but takes advantage of SQL clusters and VMWare high availability configurations (vMotion etc).  By eliminating hardware failures of the database server, and eliminating hardware failures of the SMP, you increase the availability of Altiris as a service by reducing probability of failure.
