This issue has been solved. See solution.

hello guys

I want to know if I can copy the SQL database instance used in SEPM 11.0.6 to an SQL database instance for 12.1 ru2?

I only just want the policies from 11.0.6 database to be copied to 12.1 ru2 database since we will use the same policies.

You would need to either upgrade the current db or create a fresh one. The schema is completely different.

You should be able to export the policies as it is.

The DB schema is totally different. So you will have to upgrade.

If the installation for version 12 will take place in the new server, you will have to:
1 - do the DR first. (backup DB & SEPM info, install same SEPM/SNAC version at the new server, restore DB)
2 - upgrade the SEPM/SNAC in the new server to the version 12.

Please take note that in version 12, you have to run 2 setups (1 SEPM and 1 SNAC) as copying SNAC.xml license file doesn't work in v12.

And if you use switch (dot1x) enforcement, prior to the version upgrade, I would suggest you remove dot1x global settings at switch level to avoid network interuption for your users.

Also, remember to upgrade your LAN Enforcer firmware to the same version (if you have any).

Good luck.

Old database schema from 11.x won't work with 12.1 - it would need to be upgraded to same version first. If you just need the policies from the old one - just export them on the old one and import to  the new SEPM
