Anybody kniow what this table is? It's taking up 118GB of space on my off-box SQL Server and is slowly growing. I recently increased the frequency for running Windows System Assessment Scans and I'm wondering if this table is just hanging on to records of failed/succesful attempts.

    Hi BeaconHelpDesk,

"ec_alert_variable" SQL table is used by Monitor Solution:

How much alerts you have now in "Event Console"?

To clean up "ec_alert_variable" SQL table, you can use "Event Console Purging Maintenance" task. Just set correct purge settings to remove unnecessary alerts from "Event Console" as well as from "ec_alert_variable" SQL table

    EC_Purge.jpg

In "Task Library" on NS machine it has name "NS.Run the Purge Policy every day, based on user settings.{7b84538a-c933-4fb2-93d2-83e8546f40e9}"

    Thanks,

    IP.

I have approximately 210,000 alerts and my purge settings were set the same as those in your image. Could the task you mentioned(NS.Run the Purge...) not be running? All of the alerts I have in Event Console are marked as "Undetermined."

Is there any documentation for Moniotr Solution? The link you added to your comment was helpful, but I'd like to read up more on configuring and managing it.

By default it doesn't purge alerts (you can see unchecked "Purge alerts by age". If you will enable it then it will start to purge old alerts.

Find there information about Monitor Solution and Event Console:

Ok so after looking for the settings laid out in the Monior Solution documentation I've realized that Monitor Solution is not an installed solution in my suite. Not sure if this is a standard solution included with CMS or if it's an add-on like Asset Management. Anyway, I've adjusted my purge settings as seen below and ran the "NS.Run the Purge Policy every day, based on user settings.{7b84538a-c933-4fb2-93d2-83e8546f40e9}" which cleared the Event Console of alerts, but it hasn't actually purged any data from the database. Is there another task I should be running to have the data in the dbo.ec_alert_variable table purged?

And now the alerts are back, I'm assuming because the database wasn't actually purged. Should I contact customer support at this point?

Well, if you don't use a Monitor Solution, then what rule in Event Console triggers and raises these alerts?
