Deduplicationfolder Database Path
Updated: 13 Jan 2011 | 4 comments
I make the DedupStorageFolder to a SAN Disk, and the DedupDatabaseFolder to Drive c:
This was not good. Drive c: is not secure enough for me!
How can change the Database Path (DriveLetter) from existing DeduplicationFolder? I want to move the Database-Folder in the DedupStorage-Folder.
Or how backup only the DatabaseFolder (not even the StorageFolder with USER DATA under the Microsoft Shadow Copy Components)?

More or less you have to
More or less you have to delete the Dedupe storage folder, and re-create it in the proper path. In almost all cases, it should NOT be installed on the boot/system volume. And if you have the space and spindles, the Db should go in a separate location from the files.

I don't see this as a deal
I don't see this as a deal breaker for anyone. It's a nice to have, not a need to have feature. Implement the feature right the first time, using their best practices, and the problem shouldn't have come up in the first place.
And as far as priority to have it implemented, I don't see this happening anytime soon personally. I mean, it's not stopping anyone from working, it's just an annoyance more than anything if you didn't plan ahead right, and need to make changes. I'd rather have bug fixes for the dedupe than a new feature introduced at this point.
