SHMS working fine until yesterday.  All outbound mail stopped.  We were forwarding all mail from Exchange to <domain>.outbound10.symantecmail.com.  Removed forward and got email working again.  While investigating on SHMS web console, discovered that the default outbound policy was literally gone -- only the inbound policy exists.  Tried to create a new outbound policy and was unable to (only choice was inbound SMTP).  Renewed subscription, which had expired, and have waited several hours but still no default outbound policy or a means to create one.  How to I re-enable outbound mail processing so that we can send via SHMS?

    Hello,

Have you found a resolution for this? It sounds like either a licensing issue, or your outbound scanning may have been removed. Please let me know.

No responses, so I'm opening up a support incident

I would suggest that you open a support ticket. If your outbound filtering has been disabled, that is the correct way to remediate this. If you have any issues with that, send me a personal message with your case number and I will do what I can to help out.

    Thanks!

The same problem is happening with me. I checked out the license and it is valid but still the problem persists.

Whenever you have this issue you need to call in to support. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done through the forum as we need to verify your information over the phone.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please let us know how it goes.

If you notice that your Outbound scanning has been removed from the Symantec Hosted Mail Security console, this is generally because some email coming from your domain is suspect and for security reasons has been removed.

The most common reasons for this is either incorrect settings on your mail server that may allow you to be used as an open proxy, or your mail not conforming to the guidelines set for content and being deemed as potentially unsolicited bulk email.

If this is to happen, you NEED to call support. What then happens is that we will gather your information and possibly ask for a plan of action for how you addressed the previous issue that caused you to be suspect in the first place.

Unfortunately there is nothing that can be done through the forums for this specific issue. But please feel free to keep this post visible as this is a fairly common issue.

Thank you for keeping us posted. We appreciate it!
