Default web app url in V8

Hello all,
In 7.5 we could set the default app url.
In 8, this is no longer possible.
According to document http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/324039.htm you can change this by editing the database. We tried, but it shows the value given in the HTTPS field in the site-properties. This obviously generates a problem when trying to alter another value, as this field can only hold numerical entries. not an url (http: / / evsearch.internaldomain.com)
Anyone an idea where I can set this

Reason for setting
I want to set it because it is being used. Taking away functionality without mentioning, or using a field in a database for something else is not very administrator friendly. Anyway...
Within the organisation I am in at the moment, they have a citrix environment for external access. There is a need to have the users using outlook point the Archive Explorer to evsearch.domain.com instead of going to evserver01.domain.com, evserver2.domain.com etc. evsearch is published, but not evserver01
So, the question is not 'why', but 'how'. The answer should be either 'set it here', or 'not possible anymore'..... ;-)
Thanks.

How ... take a look at
How ... take a look at technote 308450.
However that might not help.. Would really need more details about they're connecting once they get on the Citrix server (which isn't officially certified as a supported client by the way). Is the Citrix environment outside the "normal" network?
You could also take a look at : http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/324039.htm
Check.
Hi Rob,
The document http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/324039.htm describes to edit the database. We've tried that. It does reconfigure the setting for the citrix users. But, if in the console you then open the site properties, you see in the field HTTPS, that value.
We changed the field to show evsearch.domain.com, and then we see in field HTTPS (where it should read 448), we see http://evsearch.domain.com Changing something in the site-settings is then not possible. (due to a check if an entry in that field is numerical)
I'll do some further research to the other doc you advised.
Thank you, Gertjan

Solution from support.
Remark from Support.
When modifying this URL do not prefix the entry with HTTP or HTTPS however when making changes in the site entry table you could prefix it with <HTTPS> only (<> must be in place either end of HTTPS) however you must then change settings in IIS etc.
It would always be advisable to change these via VAC as the settings in the VAC have goverance of the table fields i.e .it will prefix to <HTTPS> if Use HTTPS on SSL Port is selected.
<https>evsearch.domain.com/EnterpriseVault
Once changed though via the DB i.e. to <HTTPS> then the only way to switch back is via the VAC Settings.
So ultimately never prefex anything when making in Site Entry table as the VAC will do this for you.
Weve changed it to evsearch.domain.com and that seems to be working fine. Ultimate testing will prove if this is ok now.
closing this entry.
