  • 1.  Define Number of content revisions to keep per client location?

    We want to prevent too much bandwidth consumption by anti-virus updates.

    We can do this by increasing the "Number of content revisions to keep" from 3 to 30.

    The problem is that some of our server are not blessed with more then 1,5 gb of free disk space, which will be required if you want keep 30 revisions.

    Is it possible to define the Number of content revisions to keep per client (location) so that our servers will keep 3 revisions only and our laptops abroad 30 revisions?

    i don't think that is possible. But if you configure a GUP for the clients to take update , it is possible.

    You can use these option in GUP to do this

    Maximum disk cache size for content updates

    Delete content updates if unused

    You can control the number of content revisions that the Symantec Endpoint Protection client stores for each content type. Each content type can be configured individually.
    Start > Run > regedit > navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SYMANTEC\Symantec Endpoint Protection\Content\ > Open folder with the intended content moniker name > & then depending on version do the following:

    1. In Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 and MR1, adjust the "CachedEntries" DWORD value to the # of cache content revisions to keep.

    2. In Symantec Endpoint Protection MR2 and newer, adjust the "CachedEntriesEx" DWORD value to the # of cache content revisions to keep.

    Hi Refeeq, i think your suggestion is pretty feasable for us, we can deploy those registry entries quite easily using our software distribution tool.

    I still have one question though, will that registry entry overwrite the site properties-liveupdate settings of the SEP Manager?

    That key wil only modify the cache; locally

    I dont think it has any effect on SEPM or its properties;

    Please check if on two clients we can then deploy the key.
