Is there a definitive list of antivirus exclusions (we're running McAfee) for the following products:

    Symantec Management Platform 7.1 SP1

    ServiceDesk 7.1.1

    Symantec Management Agent

    Thanks

I haven't seen a document or article for ServiceDesk.  This is a great place to start.  I don't know of any exclusions required for the SMA, and none are listed.

Make sure you exclude at least %ProgramFiles%\Symantec\Workflow\Data with its subfolders.

Due to the way Workflow works (moving around and creating .DLLs for one thing), it might be a good idea to exclude the entire Workflow folder.

Here is the recommended exclusions for a CMS 7.1. You will need to exclude certain folders that are related to the functions of the NS and certain folders that are related to functions of the agent. These locations are used for mostly transient data that is not permanent or are highly active folders with data that changes often that would hinder/slow any real-time AV scanners. Also rememebr your NS's will also need the agent exclusions as well! These are the normal install locations so if you have customized the install these may be different.

    Agent:

    • <InstallDrive>:\Program Files\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Logs (WinXP)
    • <InstallDrive>:\Users\Public\Documents\Altiris\Altiris Agent\Logs (Win7)
    • <InstallDrive>:\Program Files\Altiris\Inventory

    NS:

    • C:\Windows\System32\Altiris Logs
    • C:\ProgramData\Symantec\SMP\Replication\Temp
    • C:\ProgramData\Symantec\SMP\EventQueue

Standard AV exclusions should always include local OS temp folders and User profile temp folders so I did not include those here.

The articles mclemson pointed out are great starters but don't get confused between some exclusions that are for 6.x and others that are for 7.1. Also, some locations may change if you are not on 7.1 SP1 and you may not have the Replication folder if you are not in a hierarchy.
