    Hi,

I would check if the interface that should deliver those messages is able to connect to where it should connect.
The following article covers the issue:
    service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/ent-gate.nsf/docid/2009071308124654

Let me know if this solves your problem.

    Regards,

    Federico

All SMTP Delivery bindings are set to Auto.

I think the problem was these emails were not sent by users but SPAM coming from an IP i have blocked this and will monitor.

    Thanks for your help Federico.

I thought i got to the bottom of this but users are still receving 100's of these emails. I can see these going into quarantine? I have blocked several IPs but more keep coming, any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi Jun1or,

I'm assuming here that people who complaints did actually send these messages and we're not in front of a different issue.
I'd like to understand where these timed-out emails are going to. Are all these messages bound to external hosts?
You can troubleshoot this a bit more for us please?
If so you can log in to SBG via CLI and check the results of "mta-control delivery query-queue"
Choose one message with the mentioned condition to test. First find out what the recipient IP address is and then try connecting to it from the SBG via CLI.
You can use telnet with the binding option and try to connect to the recipient MTA to check if everything is fine.
Let's say the IP addresses of the interfaces on your SBG are 192.168.1.100 & 192.168.1.101  and the destination IP address is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx use:

    telnet -b 192.168.1.100 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 25

    and

    telnet -b 192.168.1.101 xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 25

Test with each of the SBG interfaces against the same remote MTA and post the results. I'd like to know from which interface you can connect to the destination.
When successful you should get a response back from the remote MTA and see the banner.

The below are results when doing an mta-stats, i have cleared these number of times and these continue building (Delivery_queue_Msgs)

The users don't claim sending any emails. The delivery queue is fine but the Deferred queue seems to get bigger.

    delivery_connections: 25
    delivery_data_rate: 6199 bytes/sec
    delivery_deferred_msgs: 299
    delivery_msg_rate: 0 msg/sec
    delivery_queue_size: 7246 KB
    delivery_queued_msgs: 322
    inbound_deferred_msgs: 0
    inbound_listener_connections: 2
    inbound_listener_data_rate: 6141 bytes/sec
    inbound_listener_msg_rate: 0 msg/sec
    inbound_queue_size: 0 KB
    inbound_queued_msgs: 0
    outbound_deferred_msgs: 0
    outbound_listener_connections: 0
    outbound_listener_data_rate: 0 bytes/sec
    outbound_listener_msg_rate: 0 msg/sec
    outbound_queue_size: 0 KB
    outbound_queued_msgs: 0

Configured Bounce back Prevention, hopefully this should sort the issue. Will monitor and update.

I have not received any of these notifications today, so far so good. I think this has done the trick.

    Hi Jun1or,

Mark your answer as solution if "configuring bounce back prevention" solves your issue. This will move this discussion on the solved box.

    This is still an issue.

Primarily affecting our distribution groups. The distribution group seems to be sending to the users within the group and firstly it flags it as Span and quarantines this then eventually users within the distribution group receive 100's of delayed messages.
