Hi
Over time severell installations of Backup Exec System Recovery 8.5 got their backup target changed. Now all the old targets are still available in the backup target list.
Is there any way to remove them? Specially anoying are those that do not longer exist cause backup exec now gives out errors about not reaching the backup target.

Can be done, but this is a radical approach
The steps outlined here wil do it, but it wipes out the entire history.

Assuming you have removed the jobs in the BESR interface, all you would need to do is remove the history files (.PQH) and leave the existing job files (.PQJ) intact. Otherwise, you'll have to recreate any existing jobs again. The PQH files are readable as text, but the volumes are referenced by ID number instead of drive letter. It is not very conducive for selecting the histories you want to delete
Thanks for the link. But if
Thanks for the link.
But if that's a radical aproach, does that mean there is no normal way for it? Did Symantec never think that maybe the place to store the Backup Exec System Recovery Images could change? O_o
Deleting through the interface
I haven't found a way to delete invalid targets yet through the BESR interface. It used to be a real pain to delete references to recovery point sets that the interface could not find, but that has gottten better. I agree that the deletion of invalid backup targets needs to be addressed, i.e. either create the capapbility, or if it already exists, make it more intuitive.
I think this task can be done with the scipting components supplied with the product, but I haven't attempted to try coding it yet. Another automation task to add to the list............
I found out, that the first
I found out, that the first target you define is set as the standard backup target. If I change the backup jobs target device, the path still exist as the standard backup target. If I change that too the target disappears.
Go to "Task" --> "options" There is the standard path.
