Deleting archived Mail

This issue has been solved. See solution.
I think I already know the answer to this but just wanted to be sure.
We have some users who have had PST's incorrectly imported and they wish to delete them. Our corporate policy does not allow deletion of archived mail. Am I right in thinking the only way I can do this is to firstly remove the global setting for deleting archived mail, then go in and delete and re-apply before anyone notices ?
Thanks
Paul

Paul,
You are right, but I have a better and safer solution for you:
Make sure your default desktop Policy has this checked off "Show Delete Button" and "Show Delete in Menu"
Remove users cannot delete
Now users can delete but they have no means to delete :)
Create a new Desktop Policy, where "Show Delete" is checked
Create new Provisioning Group which points to your new Desktop Policy
Add that user to the Provisioning Group
Run Provisioning Task
Run Synchronization.
If you are using pre v8 replace Desktop Policy with Mailbox Policy.

Hi Wayne,
I've followed the steps above but havent had any joy yet. I've just thought of something though. Our default Provisioning group has "Whole Exchange Organisation" as a target. The new provisioning group has just me as a target. Is the fact that I'll appear in both groups going to mean that one set of permissions is not going to override the other ?
Thanks
