  • 1.  Deleting lunfo.dat to reduce network bandwidth

    Posted Nov 23, 2011 02:15 PM

In an effort to reduce network bandwith to the SEPM servers, Symantec advised that we create a script that will delete LUInfo.dat.

The problem is, this file gets created just when smc.exe is being shut down.

When I shut down smc.exe on my computer, I do not see LUInfo.dat appear in <Drive>:\Program Files\Symantec\Symantec Endpoint Protection\LiveUpdate

    Two questions

    1. Where does LUInfo.dat actually appear when smc.exe shuts down

    2. When can we expect that LUInfo.dat gets created. This script needs to be created accordingly.

The file will get re-created which is normal, the reason for deleting the file is to remove incorrect entries in the file. Below is documentation regarding the issue you are experiencing and the full explaination for deleting the luinfo.dat.
