  • 1.  Deleting/Changing attributes in the Altiris 6.0 Schema

    Dear All,

I have created a field in a Data Class on my development box. Sadly, this field was defined incorrectly. I know that I can make the field hidden in the Data Class for data entry, but it still shows up in the Connector Solution when I need to import.

I have found that there is a table in the Altiris database called "DataClassAttribute", and if I alter fields in this table for the individual attributes of the Data Class PLUS change the defined field in the matching table, then this seems to work OK and there seems to be no adverse problems.

    1) Does anyone know if there are any other parts of the database that I have neglected to change relevant to this and

    2) Can I make other changes using the "DataClass" and "DataClassResourceForeignKey" tables, if needs be?

    Regards,

    Hi QuietLeni,

Using the DataClass table is fine but we don't recommend tempering with internal DB information unless you really need to.

In this case you should be able to modify the data classes (if there is not data in the underlying dataclass table) from the editor or by running an export / edit / import process.

    Dear Ludovic,

I must admit that I was not expecting a whole-hearted endorsement, however, I was hoping that I would at least be told if there are any other tables that I needed to update in the database for this or is the DataClassAttribute  the only place?

    Kindest regards,
