Dell Latitude XT and XT2 Issues

Is anyone able to clarify on the following from the Release Notes for PGP Desktop 10.1/10.2?

PGP Whole Disk Encryption is supported on Tablet PCs that meet the following additional requirements: Dell Latitude XT1 and XT2 Tablet PC Touch Screen Laptops (undocked)

Does this mean encryption will only work undocked? Or PGP as a whole? We've found that things stop working when encrypting an XT2 while docked - but if we encrypt undocked, and then dock it, will it break again?

Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

    Thanks

This warning only applies to the use of Whole Disk Encryption.  The only problem you should have after completing the disk encryption is that you will not be able to boot your machine when it is docked.

I can't see why the dock should matter, surely WDE should only affect the HDD. Are you aware of any fixes in development for this? We have a few XT and XT2s that are primarily used on a dock, so this is a bit of a pain, as you can imagine.

I suspect the problem is related to the keyboard pre-boot connection.  I'm sorry to say that I don't know if this is something that can be fixed on the PGP end or whether this is in the works.

Shame. From what I'm told we're actually able to boot, just parts of the touch screen don't work. We'll try booting without the dock and see if that helps anything and go from there, thanks.

Just be informed that regardless of being docked or not it still doesn't work correctly. Where the XT boots, the USB ports all stop working. Uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling gets them working again until the next boot. This happens only after encryption though... VERY strange.

Got someone else about to test an XT2 because I'm sure I've seen WDE working on one before.

    Any thoughts?

If you are using the current version, and apparently you are, and it is not working properly when not docked, I'd suggest opening a support case.

I believe that we had some recent fixes for Dell Latitude XT tablet models. This was folled up into 10.2 MP2 HF4. Let me know if you are interested in testing that on one of the machines that is affected to see if that helps.

Definitely, yes please! I have a support case open for this if me testing this needs to be updated on the case: 415-769-571

    Thanks

    James,

PGP Desktop 10.2 MP3 should be out sometime very soon. When that is available. it has a fix for the problem with USB devices with PGP encrypted on a Dell Latitude XT tablet. Bug# 2474870 for reference.

That's good to know! I can't remember if I typically get notified of MP releases or not, I don't suppose you have an estimated date so I can check back with fileconnect?

This will be out sometime by the end of this week probably. It could possibly even be today.  I will try my best to notify you when I see it out James.

Thanks Ben, I've spotted it though and am currently in the process of downloading the pup. I'll give it a try in a bit.

Looking at the release notes it doesn't mention the XTs though, but hopefully this works. I don't suppose you know if it covers an Explorer issue where Explorer itself crashes when PGPTray is loaded after right-clicking on certain files? I did have a support case open for it, but I've not heard back for a while - I won't pester them if you know, but otherwise I'll chase (it's with our supplier who logged a case, so I don't have a case number for reference, unfortunately).
