  • 1.  dell opti 755 won't netboot

    We're running GSS 2 and i can't get this Dell to netboot, I downloaded the proper nic from Dell and add it during the network boot wizard, no dice. Is there an issue loading this nic driver or are there problems with this particular dell?

    I've been able to PXE boot these machines, or are you trying to use the console?

    I probably have the same problems, can you explain to me in detail how you got the PXE boot to remotely restore an image over the network?  Been trying for a while but no success yet.  Thanks.

    All our imaged are stored on a file server, the ghost server.

     

    We actually made the ghost server out of a laptop, as we have 6 sites we imgae our Clinician's computer, so we have to travel.

     

    Images are stored on a USB external (which seems faster than the interal), accessed off a network share.

     

    so we PXE boot to a floppy image that has network capability, then ghost.exe it (either load or unload) the image... completey from dos prompt.

     

    I've almost got the whole thing automated, if i can get my head around the naming of the machines part.

    Thanks for the reply, I've been using the ghost boot wizard. Never tried to PXE boot, I'll give that whirl.

    Our Dell Optiplex 755's come default from the factory with PXE disabled in the BIOS, FYI.

     

    Our also use the Intel Pro 1000 (825x Series) NIC, which also are used for GX260,GX270,Vostro 200.

    easiest way is to use WinPe with PXE booting
