This issue has been solved. See solution.

Hi, I've started using DeployAnywhere with DS 7.1 and having an issue with building a Lenovo T410. It basically blue screens whne in AHCI mode. I know I shiuld be able to inject the drivers into the DriversDB - but it still keep blue screening. I'm importing drivers ( http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO26073 ) but dont seem to see these in the \\server\Deployment\Task Handler\DriversDB folder!

Heres the log file :

Missing driver detected :
 type =  NETWORK DEVICE
 PCI ID = PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10EA&SUBSYS_215317AA&REV_06
 Desc = @oem12.inf,%e10eanc.devicedesc%;Intel(R) 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection

Missing driver detected :
 type =  STORAGE DEVICE
 PCI ID = PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_3B2F&SUBSYS_216817AA&REV_06
 Desc = @system32\drivers\pci.sys,#262;Serial ATA Controller

Missing driver detected :
 type =  NETWORK DEVICE
 PCI ID = PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4239&SUBSYS_13118086&REV_35
 Desc = @system32\drivers\pci.sys,#640;Network Controller

Anyone help!!!

Cheers - Joe.

Check the logs

Joe,

Which operating system you are targeting on Lenovo T410 ?

If drivers not present in DriverDB that means it wasn't imported correctly.

Make sure you have correct driver , When you import the driver please check Altiris Log Viewer , to see why it is failing.

Let us know your findings.

Download from Lenovo site

Joe,

Download the drivers form Lenovo's (Vendors) site.

You will get the driver in executable format, execute and it will get extarcted to C:\Drivers (check the destination dir) ; Now import these drivers to Driver Manager , this should work.

I downloaded the storage

I downloaded the storage controller from Lenovo site. It now doesn't show up on the eval..

Missing driver detected :
 type =  NETWORK DEVICE
 PCI ID = PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_10EA&SUBSYS_215317AA&REV_06
 Desc = @oem13.inf,%e10eanc.devicedesc%;Intel(R) 82577LM Gigabit Network Connection

Missing driver detected :
 type =  NETWORK DEVICE
 PCI ID = PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4239&SUBSYS_13118086&REV_35
 Desc = @system32\drivers\pci.sys,#640;Network Controller

It now only shows the above NICS drivers as missing. When image is deployed it still blue screens though on reboot. would these missing NIC drivers do that. I thought it would just have been storage controller that blue screened it. (I did add th lenovo NICS to the drivers DB but its still saying its missing)

Hi, Blue screen should be

Hi,

Blue screen should be resolve since you have applied storage controller drivers and not listed in eval.

You can download the drivers for 82577LM Gigabit Network adapter and Intel Centrino 6200 Wiress network adapter from Lenovo  website for approriate operating system which you are deploying.

I have tried on Lenovo T410 laptop in my test setup for various 32 and 64 bit operating systems and found to be working fine.

Nitin

Hi ghosti,

did you have to amend any .inf files or did it work straight off after downloading the drivers?

Joe.

Hi,I didn't modify inf file

Hi,

I didn't modify inf file and it worked for me without any issue for 82577 network adapter and storage controller driver. It doesn't retarget Intel Centrino 6200 wireless nic drivers and this is defect in DA and development is working on it. Wireless drivers are installed after os is up.

Can you please let me know for which os you are retargetting the drivers? If possible I can try to upload the appropriate drivers.  I tried it for XP, Vista 32 and 64 bit, Windows 7 32 and 64 bit without any issue.

Regards,
Nitin

Hi Joe, Hmm... There are

Hi Joe,

Hmm... There are several reason for failing the task. You can enable the debug logs and send it to us so that we can look at the exact reason for failing the task.

You can enable logs on client machine as follow

1. Regedit

2. Go to HKLM-->software-->Altiris-->Deployment

3. Create string value with name as "debuglogs" and value data "c:\".

Please attach the logs for investigation.

Nitin

If you have package servers

If you have package servers in use, be sure that the package has replicated from the NS to your package server.  Otherwise you're testing an old DriversDB.

Downloaded drivers

Hi,

I have downloaded the drivers and applied to the DriversDB. when I got deploy laptop. It goes through ghost and pushes image but doesn't reboot as it should. I reboot and get blue screen. Deploy job is marked as failed. Is there anyway to run the deployanywhere and test rather than having to do a build everytime I make a small change?

That is too bad, we are

That is too bad, we are having the same issues with the new HP 6360b elitebooks. Deploy Anywhere in /eval mode keeps telling us the onboard NIC driver is not found. AHCI and wireless NIC are both found, and the machine would BSOD when left in the AHCI mode.
