Deploying 32-bit clients from 64-bit SEPM

Is it possible (easy, straight-forward, mind-numbingly simple) to deploy SEP 11 MR4 (or whatever version we have now) from a 64-bit server to a 32-bit client?  Both would be running Windows.  The server will run Win Server 2008, and the clients will run Win XP SP2 or SP3.

Also, is the migration from a 32-bit 10.x server to a 64-bit 11 MRx server possible?  Same as a regular 32-bit to 32-bit migration?

Thanks,

Mind-numbingly simple

Yep.. its exactly the same if you were deploying a 32 bit client from a 32 bit server.  As are the upgrade routes.

Installing SEPM on Server 2008 x64

So, is it possible to install SEPM on Server 2008 x64?  Is it available in MR4?

I have it on Server 2003 x64,

I have it on Server 2003 x64, works fine...

The actual manager and all that is 32-bit and runs out of the Program Files (x86) folder but the client that I installed on the server as well, is 64-bit

64-bit version of SEPM

Thanks for the info.  I really appreciate it!

The release notes are a little vague.  I downloaded MR4 and tried to install SEPM on a 64-bit Server 2008, but could only find the 32-bit version of the Manager.  The release notes don't actually state that the Manager is 64-bit, it only says the the manager supports 64-bit clients.  Am I reading this incorrectly?  Can you tell me how to install the 64-bit Manager?

Thanks!

The Manager doesn't have

The Manager doesn't have separate versions for 32 and 64 bit version, you install that on any system and it will work. And Manager supports 32 and 64 bit systems independly of the OS on which is installed.

Okay, I know this has already

Okay, I know this has already been asked, and in a way answered, but I would like to get crystal clear clarification on the issue if possible.

Manager
32 bit: If you install the SEP Manager on a 32-bit Windows Server OS, it installs in Program Files.
64 bit: If you install the SEP Manager on a 64-bit Windows Server OS, it installs in Program Files (x86).

If this is correct then the SEP Manager is only 32-bit, not 64-bit. That would make sense because every time I go to install it on Windows 2008 Small Business Server (which is 64-bit only due to Exchange 2007 requirements) it wants to install into Program Files (x86).

Information Foundation for Microsoft Exchange
32 bit: If you install SIFMSE on a 32-bit Windows Server OS, it installs in Program Files.
64 bit: If you install SIFMSE on a 32-bit Windows Server OS, it installs in Program Files (x86).

This leads me to believe that the server end of the Endpoint products is not built on 64-bit but rather kept at 32-bit. This does not limit the protection for 64-bit clients however as the appropriate package is pushed to the device based on the architecture it is running (32 or 64-bit). I have also tried to run the MSI file directly from the \SIFMSMSE\Install\x64 directory and it still wants to install into Program Files (x86).
