    Hello,

I am receiving the following error when deploying a Windows7 image  to a DELL laptop.

ErrorMessage: Exception has occured in function SMPPackage.cpp() at Line No 645. Type of exception is GeneralError. Error is Default Message Exception in CSMPPackageException. Error Description is utilCSMPPackageGetFileFromHTTP. Value of Windows error code = 6 and message is The handle is invalid.

    Any input would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

There is so little information in your posting that I don't really know where to start. At what point of the deployment are you getting the error? Is the DELL booted to DOS or WinPE? What model of DELL?  What version of Ghost?

Thanks for responding so quickly.  I am new to this process...So just to rule out IP issues I changed the sub-net of the laptop I was imaging and Ghost completed 100%, and then I received this error message again:

ErrorMessage: Exception has occured in function SMPPackage.cpp() at Line No 645. Type of exception is GeneralError. Error is Default Message Exception in CSMPPackageException. Error Description is utilCSMPPackageGetFileFromHTTP. Value of Windows error code = 6 and message is The handle is invalid.

I am trying to image a Dell M6800 with Windows 7. I am booting from WinPE4.0 using Ghost V 12.0.0.7026.

    Thanks again!

So to clarify, you are getting the error AFTER deploying the image and not when deploying as your first post suggests.  The error appears to be in a control panel applet, so it drives me to ask whether the image you are deploying was created on the same DELL model that you are trying to load the image to.  If it is the same model then the file itself might be defective. Try booting back to WinPE and replace the file with a known good version on the imaged hard disk. If the build was created on a different model, it is likely that a hardware difference is causing the error maybe as a driver is missing or incorrect for your model.

Have you tried starting in safe mode to see if the machine is able to boot at least.
