    Hello Admins,

     

    I am a university student and I am doing a project on deploying Windows 7 images using Altiris.

    I have been struggling to get the right configuration settings of this system from almost a month now but still at the same place where I was 1 month ago.

     I have to create a prototype using a Client/Server (1 server 1 client) setup at home. If anyone can help me with the settings to get Altiris running up and working will be a great help.

    Current Setup:

    Server configuration:

    Software: Windows server 2008 32bit

    Hardware: Sony Vaio E-series laptop

    Client Configuration:

    Software: Windows Professional 7 64bit

    Hardware: Dell Latitude E4300

    Altiris:

    Version 6.9(Build 575) SP5 (Evaluation Copy)

    SQL Server:

    SERVER 2005 Express edition 32bit

     

    Altiris suite and SQL server are installed properly on the Server 2008, console comes u fine with no errors.

     

    Current Issues: 

    I can remotely and manually install deployment agent on the client machine. However, after the installation remote agent does not show up in either the deployment console or in the Client’s system tray.

    Can someone let me know where I am going wrong or guide me in the step by step process of setting things up?

     

    I have followed these great articles on Altiris but still not able to get the system working. And Altiris user and Admin guide already.

    You need to make sure you install the DAgent not the AClient although confusingly it's in the AClient directory on the Server. Use the dagent_x64.msi file. If you install it manually I think it should ask you for the address of the Deployment Server, unless you are sure name resolution works, just put the IP address of the D.
