Deployment Solution 7.1 - Install OS - Problem parsing DriversDB
Updated: 18 Aug 2011 | 5 comments
This issue has been solved. See solution.
Morning all,
I have a unique little problem that has only just surfaced. In the past I was able to image new computers with a Vanilla OS Install of Windows 7 or Windows XP. Part of this job allowed me to use the DriversDB to install drivers during the OS INstall.
That functionality is now producing errors during the OS Precheck drivers part of winpe. the error is simply "Error parsing driversdb"
My question is how to fix this error. I am more than happy to erase the db and start from scratch but not sure how to do this?
any help would be grand :)

Where do you see this error?
I apologize, but I'm personally pulling a blank on this. Where do you see this error - in WinPE I assume, but during what step in the process? Is this a script or are you using the built-in SOI task? Or is this an imaging job, not SOI?

Thomas, This is a SOI task,
Thomas,
This is a SOI task, its the initial step prechecking drivers
Hmmm... OK. And it's "new" - right?
I'll try to find out if this is something we've recently... "Added" to the product or not. Again, I've not heard of it, so unless someone else has an idea, that's the best I can do.
AND, frankly, IF someone else has not heard of it, you probably should officially "log" this with support. There are times that "new" features really do need to be called-in.
Thanks!

Search the DS server to find
Search the DS server to find the driversdb folder. In there is a driver manifest file. Under normal/working
circumstances this should not be zero kb (mine is 600kb). Is yours zero kb? if so, go back to DS and open driver management and check the manifest file... It should rebuild itself and allow you to image.

Fixed the issue, Deleted
Fixed the issue,
Deleted the manifest file, access All Settings > Driver Management which then recreates the manifest file.
